ENGLISH LESSONS FOR CHILDREN AGES 4 – 17
ELG Consulting offers English progams for children aged 4 – 17. Individual lessons as well as small groups.
METHOD For younger children ages 5 – 8 we focus on:
1.Building basic vocabulary
2.Greetings, how to say hello and goodbye in English (several different ways taught)
3.Memorizing days of the week
4.Counting to 100
5.Learning the names of different Animals
6.Discovering the names for parts of the body.
7.Telling the time
8.Listening to read alouds (English classics like Goldilocks and the Three Bears; The Very Hungry Caterpillar, etc.)
9.Singing English songs (classics like Old MacDonald had a Farm, Alphabet Song, Head, Shoulders Knees and Toes)
A smilar method is used for children ages 8 -10 but we also try to introduce reading comprehension from selected textbooks depending on the child’s level. We try to combine an art segment with each lesson to keep the children engaged and having fun. For beginners, parents are encouraged to purchase the book, Grammar Starter by Jennifer Seidl.
Lessons for older children are hour-long, conversationally themed meetings that could include grammar and homework assistance. We also like to introduce English books around ages 10 – 12 such as Sherlock Holmes and Harry Potter is the students’ level are sufficiently advanced.
We focus on making English fun for children while at the same time improving their ability to converse in English over time. We especially like to work with students and parents who are motivated and really want to learn English.
